1321 until today. Hello Matill.
A close-up view of a rustic building with a weathered facade, set against a backdrop of lush green hills and snow-capped mountains under a clear blue sky. The scene captures the natural beauty and tranquility of the landscape.

A new name for what we have always been: nature, authenticity, and mindful calm.

Since 1321, our house has been part of this landscape – first documented as Jenlin Mutille. A name from another time, marking the beginning of a long evolution.

From these historical roots, over the centuries, the Matillenhof emerged, later becoming the Matillhof. Each era has told its own story – from a simple farm to a place that has continuously evolved without ever losing its roots.

With the name Mein Matillhof, we have long tried to express what defines us: hospitality, a deep connection to nature, and a personal, honest way of running this place. A name as an attitude – not as a façade.

Today, we consciously take a step further.
From Matillhof becomes Matill.

Reduced, clear, and contemporary – and at the same time closely connected to everything that has shaped us. Looking more closely, a very coherent picture emerges today: a boutique place with personality, deeply rooted in nature and intentionally focused on what truly matters.

Part of this is created right at our doorstep – through our own organic cultivation, which accompanies us throughout the year and forms the basis of much of what is served here. As well as our winemaking, which naturally connects landscape, work, and enjoyment and gives the place its own signature.

To this comes an attitude that goes beyond cuisine: mindfulness as a guiding thread. With offerings such as retreats, rituals, and mindful moments of conscious slowing down, we create spaces where less becomes more – and simplicity becomes tangible again.

It is never about staging or loud luxury. Rather, it is about a quiet form of quality – honest, reduced, and genuinely lived.

Our guests are exactly that: people who travel consciously. Seekers of calm enjoyment, couples and families who value authenticity, “conscious travellers” who value atmosphere over surface and appreciate genuineness more than effects.

And this is exactly where Matill fits in.

The new name is not a break, but a condensation. A clear form for something that has evolved over generations. Because everything that defines us remains: the closeness to nature, the connection to place, the attention to detail, and an attitude that is allowed to be quiet – and is precisely what gives it strength.

Matill is not less than before.
It is simply clearer about what it has always been.
