Family Holiday at Matill
A man carries a girl on his shoulders along a hiking trail surrounded by lush greenery and towering mountains in the background. Another woman with a backpack walks towards them, enjoying the scenic outdoor setting under a partly cloudy sky.

Fun for young and old

Children’s eyes light up and precious family moments are created – the kind that stay with you forever. Laughing, marvelling and discovering together: that’s what a family holiday at Matill is all about.
Grab your family and set off on a very special adventure together. In the Vinschgau holiday region, there is so much to discover – especially for our little explorers!

And with our daily kids’ programme, the chances of making new friends are pretty high!

Just yesterday, for example, our young guests headed to the new beach volleyball court in Latsch with Sofia. Tomorrow, it’s off to 3D archery. This and much more awaits children as part of our varied activity programme.

Adventures and excursions in the Vinschgau

Very close to Matill, you can learn archery together as a family! The 3D archery course is located at the valley station of the chairlift to Tarscher Alm and is perfect for spending an exciting day in nature around Tarsch. The motto here: less walking, more shooting – and after an active round, relax with snacks and drinks at the archery centre. Best of all, the course is only a 15-minute bus ride from the hotel.

Another very special excursion for families can be found in the rustic Schnalstal Valley: the ArcheoParc. This archaeological open-air and activity museum not only features a permanent exhibition about Ötzi, but also an outdoor area with huts just like in Ötzi’s time. And the best part: you can try everything yourself – lighting a fire, baking bread over a campfire, grinding flour using a Stone Age mill and many more adventures awaiting our young guests.

For those who want to aim high, both young and old can head to the Ötzi Rope Park high ropes course. Also located in the Schnalstal Valley, it promises challenges and plenty of fun! There are 12 different courses to climb and explore. And for the truly brave, zip lines take you soaring across the 50-metre-deep gorge of the Schnalsbach.

The dream of being a knight or a lady of the castle comes true at Churburg Castle. This impressive fortress in the village of Schluderns offers a glimpse into castle life in the 13th century. Particularly fascinating is the well-preserved armoury, home to the largest private collection of armour in the world. It includes an almost complete set of equipment for a castle garrison, with more than 50 suits of armour, polearms and swords – and you can even try on a helmet or two. A definite highlight are the popular South Tyrolean Knights’ Games, which take place near the castle in August and enchant visitors of all ages for three days.

Water lovers are also well catered for: in Kastelbell, you have the unique opportunity to take part in a rafting tour. Experience the thrill as you ride the waves along the River Adige. So, what are you waiting for? A one-of-a-kind adventure for the whole family – whether beginners or experts, young or old.

Back at Matill

After an adventurous summer day, it’s time to relax back at Matill. How about cooling off in the outdoor pool? Dive right in! You can look forward to an indoor and outdoor pool with a water mushroom and a children’s pool. The counter-current system and waterfall are great fun too!
If you prefer something a little calmer, explore the child-friendly themed trail “Waldtierpfad Gumperle” in Prad am Stilfserjoch. Here, little ones discover nature and culture in a playful way. Families can enjoy an exciting and educational walk while learning all about the forest and its animal inhabitants.

In the evening, children can enjoy their very own kids’ menu if they wish, and during the summer months, a supervised kids’ table creates the perfect setting for new friendships.

Play, fun and shared moments

Our team is always excited to meet our young guests and loves spending time with them – playing, crafting and simply having fun together. From treasure hunts and mini golf to colouring books, there’s something for everyone. Our children’s programme is suitable for all age groups, as activities are individually tailored to the kids’ ages.

Why not visit us during the summer holidays and experience moments that bring you closer together – and memories you won’t soon forget?
